A clue is found just below the splash panel of the first story. A tiny handwritten note that says "Teen 36."
There *was* no Teen Comics #36. The last issue was #35 (May 1950). It's numbering was taken over by Unknown Worlds [title expanded to Journey into Unlknown Worlds with the next issue] for its inaugural Sep 1950 issue.
It looks as though both Miss America Magazine and Teen Comics were cancelled with their April-May 1950 issues. The former title was resurrected for July 1950 in a more conventional format by sticking the innards of Teen Comics 36 into a photo cover. The numbering of the later was used for the new sci-fi title beginning with its Sep 1950 issue.
Despite going to comic book format, Miss America retained photo covers on most issues well into 1950.
